Book Review: Alex Rider: Undercover

Hey there! Welcome back, and today I'll be doing a book review on one of my favorite book series! Alex Rider! Before we start, I recommend this book for 5th or 6th. Anyways, Alex Rider is a 14 year old spy, who works for MI6. The books series is made by Anthony Horowitz. The book features many villains, thought I have only read a few. That's why I shall only be reviewing the book "Alex Rider: Undercover" for the world's book day event.

[ 💣 Spoiler Alert 💣 ]

The book starts with the story "The Man in The Wrong Shoes". This story features Alex Rider and his school having a chat with a politician. There is a building site behind them, and Alex sees one man, with ordinary shoes, while the others have normal working boots. Alex gets suspicious and escapes the chat and runs to the building site.  He discovers the man is a fake, and finds out the original guard knocked out with a monkey wrench.  Alex sees the man going into the crane, and realizes that the man is trying to kill the politician. Alex saves the guard and the police detained the man to ask him questions. They find out that the man was the substitute teacher and says the only reason he did it was because the politician said that arts and drama was no good.

The second story is named "Double Agent". Alex's parents go on a vacation leaving Alex, only 3 months old, with their friend. Alex's godfather a man named Ash was fired from MI6 and decides to take revenge by working for the evil organisation known as 'Scorpia'. To join, Ash must prove his loyalty by killing somebody, and that somebody, more like some people, is Alex's parent. Ash decides to pull the trigger and the plane Alex's parents were on explodes, killing them.

The third story features a Russian assassin, known as Yassen Gregorovich, though when he was born was named Yasha Gregorovich. The story is in Yassen's early life as a child and why he turned into a hitman. His friend Ilya gets a new dad who is evil.  Ilya's new dad messes up Yassen's test and Yassen does not go to his dream job, which is a pilot for a helicopter.  Yassen grows up, and is an assassin. He has his target, but miraculously finds Ilya's new father. Yassen makes a decision between his target and Ilya's new dad. Yassen decides to shoot Ilya's new dad, and he knows that the bullet will ricochet of the wall and hit his target too. Yassen smiles, and walks away, knowing he had done his job.

The last story, my favorite, is named The White Carnation. Yassen gets hired by a woman who is rich and wants to kill her sister. Yassen agrees and goes to the spanish steps, where her sister and the woman will be and goes onto a shady place. He takes aim, but stops, noticing something. The woman who hired him did not have a sister. The woman he was taking aim at, while matching the description of what the woman said, was not her. Yassen explains that he notices everything, and sees that the glasses were cheap, while everything else was expensive. Yassen goes back to the woman to confront her.

The woman says she wants to die for some unknown reason. Yassen tells her that is foolish because she has money and beauty. Yassen walks away, heading to the airport.

My favorite story as you know, is The White Carnation. I love the twist that the woman has no sister and how Yassen notices it. My least favorite, would be the 3rd story named Metal Head. It was surprising that Yassen wanted to be a helicopter pilot, but at the same time, it got boring after a while.

I hope you enjoy this book review, and I highly recommend this book for ages 10 and older, or 5th or 6th.

Goodbye fellow readers!
